THE DUPAGE LIBRARY SYSTEM
MEETING OF THE BOARD

The 37th Annual Meeting of the DLS Membership was held at 127 South First Street, Geneva, Illinois, and was convened at 6:45 p.m. by Pres. Jackie Plourde.
Board members present were: Karen Hannah, Rob Kepka, Hallé Mikyska, Pattie Piotrowski, Jackie Plourde, Carolyn R. Roys, Mesfin Tefera, Marguerite Treest, Robert J. Wagner, and Joyce Whitehead.
Other members present were: Michelle Caulk, St. Charles Public Library; Claudia Krauspe, Helen Plum Memorial Library; Jeanne Hintz, Geneva Public Library; Linda Jourdan, C. Berger; Eva Luckinbill, Aurora Public Library; Diana Brown, St. Charles Public Library; Elaine Buch, Addison Trail High School; Vany Wells, Waubonsee Valley High School; Bruce Wells, Aurora; Timothy Jarzemsky, Bloomingdale Public Library; Betsy Adamowski, Itasca Public Library; and Todd Morning, Bartlett Public Library District.
DLS staff members attending were: Shirley May Byrnes, Pamela Kramer, Jane Plass, Claudia Sheets, Denise Zielinski, Karen Odean, Melissa Moyer, Jen-Lee Yee, and Mary Jean McCleary
Pres. Plourde introduced the two DLS scholarship recipients: Vany Wells, librarian at Waubonsee Valley High School, was the recipient of the LTA scholarship. Claudia Krauspe, Young People’s Librarian at Helen Plum Memorial Library, was the recipient of the scholarship for graduate education and is a student at Dominican University. Pres. Plourde presented each winner with a certificate.
St. Charles Public Library District was the winner of the 21st Century Award for its “Giving Tree Program.” Michelle Caulk represented the library and was presented a certificate and check by Pres. Plourde.
Pres. Plourde has served 6 years. Exec. Director Byrnes presented her with a plaque in recognition of her years on the Board, the last one as president.

Challenge for the future:
Pres. Plourde concluded by stating, “The DLS staff is here to support all the multi-type libraries that we have in the system; they do it with a smile, they do it with patience and a lot of understanding. So we do hope that you use the system as often as you need to. That’s what they’re here for.”
Pres. Plourde introduced Mesfin Tefera, Aurora Public Library who was elected to the Board for a 2 year term, and the newly-elected school library Board representative Elaine Buch from Addison Trail High School.
